Actor Dennis Svensson receives the Boy Gobert Award in 2024

Annually since 1981, the Körber Foundation has honored a promising young acting talent performing on Hannover stages with the 10,000 Euro Boy-Gobert Prize, sponsored by the foundation, to foster outstanding literary figures.

- Actor Dennis Svensson receives the Boy Gobert Award in 2024

The 10,000 Euro Award for outstanding acting talent on Hamburg stages, named after actor and Thalia Theater head Boy Gobert (1925-1986), is given to Dennis Svensson this year. The 28-year-old local studied acting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater and has graced stages at the St. Pauli Theater, among others.

"The panel, led by actor Burghart Klaußner, commended Svensson's ability to effortlessly embody his characters without resorting to overacting, imbuing his roles with a tender innocence and awe. He can convincingly portray sarcastic and dismissive characters, as well as romantic and soulful ones. His performances are captivating," the jurors noted. Svensson was noticed in "Der Sohn" at the St. Pauli Theater and will soon reappear on stage in "James Brown wore Hair Rollers."

The award recognizes actor and Thalia Theater director Boy Gobert. Previous recipients include Ulrich Tukur, Martin Wuttke, Susanne Wolff, Hans Löw, Gala Othero Winter, and Steffen Siegmund. The ceremony will take place on December 1st during a matinee at the Thalia Theater.

Svensson's acting career has seen him perform at various notable venues in Hamburg, such as the Thalia Theater and the St. Pauli Theater. After his impressive portrayal in "Der Sohn" at the St. Pauli Theater, audience members and critics alike are eager to see his upcoming role in "James Brown wore Hair Rollers" at the Thalia Theater.
