A 25-year-old man from Brunswick is on trial in Lower Saxony starting from July, who, according to the court, is accused of planning the violent death of their supposed father in 2022. The man is charged with murder, as the court announced on a Thursday.

According to the court, the man is currently in pre-trial detention. The sister is said to have first searched for the target on social media and located him in Switzerland using a false identity. She then attempted to initiate a romantic relationship with him. With the information about his whereabouts, the defendant is said to have driven to Switzerland with his girlfriend in June 2023 and attacked the victim with a knife. The victim attempted to flee but died nearby.

The court did not wish to disclose further details about the background before the trial's start on July 11. The circumstances of the father's death and the connection to the man in Switzerland remain unclear for now. The court also left open the possibility of further investigations against the sister and the girlfriend. According to a report in "Bild" newspaper, the sister lives in Pakistan. The man and his girlfriend were reportedly arrested in Braunschweig in early 2024. The woman was then deported to Switzerland, and the man is currently in pre-trial detention awaiting the trial.

The trial is scheduled for seven hearing days until the end of August.
