- Accused of Drug Smuggling: Court Hears Case of 56-Year-Old Individual

Illicit Drug Dealing has led a 56-year-old individual to stand trial at the Berlin Regional Court. He is accused of selling a staggering 303 kilograms of cocaine, with the prosecution citing 35 separate transactions, each involving kilogram quantities. Moreover, the defendant is alleged to have orchestrated cocaine shipments within Germany, acting on behalf of an independently charged drug dealer. At the commencement of the trial, one of the two defending attorneys declared that their client would refrain from commenting on the charges at this time.

The prosecution believes that the 56-year-old amassed approximately nine million euros from these alleged criminal activities. From July 2020 to July 2021, he is said to have sold cocaine to unidentified individuals in the Berlin region. According to the indictment, "He maintained a record of these transactions in a notebook and sometimes even sent images of the sealed narcotics to the buyers." It further alleges that he aided in drug shipments in 2020 and 2021. In one instance, he reportedly collected 100 kilograms of cocaine in Hamburg on behalf of a separately charged individual and subsequently transported it concealed in his vehicle to Berlin.

Illicit Substances were discovered in the basement of a residential building where the 56-year-old resided. Upon his arrest in early November, a total of 922 blocks of cannabis resin, weighing approximately 88 kilograms, were seized from his basement rooms. The indictment also mentions numerous precision scales, packaging materials, diluents, stickers, and a cash sum of 10,000 euros, which were found in the basement. A hidden compartment designed for transporting narcotics was uncovered in his vehicle.

The trial has so far scheduled an additional 16 days to conclude in mid-November. The proceedings will continue on August 23.

The defense team is planning to argue that the accused's income was primarily from legal sources, such as his work in the field of [Transport and telecommunications]. Despite this, the prosecution argues that the sophisticated method of packaging and transporting the drugs, as evidenced by the hidden compartment in his vehicle and the precision scales found in his basement, indicate involvement in the illicit drug trade.
