The Hamburg public prosecutor has filed charges against a Turkish man suspected of having ties with the PKK terrorist organization. The 58-year-old is believed to have played a key role in influencing the candidate selection process for the 2019 Bremen state parliament election to support a PKK-favored candidate.

According to the prosecutor's office, he attempted to persuade a female member of the Left Party to drop her candidacy for the election and instead support a candidate preferred by the PKK. However, it's not just his involvement in election politics that has landed him in hot water. The man is also said to have managed the PKK's finances in Bremen, potentially threatening and intimidating anyone who failed to cooperate in their fundraising efforts.

Despite search warrants being executed against this individual at the end of 2022, it seems that his criminal activities didn't cease. He was finally apprehended in January of this year and placed in pre-trial detention.
