According to Sky: Klose apparently a coaching candidate at FCK
Former world champion Miroslav Klose is apparently one of the candidates for the coaching position at his former club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. This was reported by the TV channel Sky. The second-division soccer club surprisingly parted ways with promoted coach Dirk Schuster on Thursday. Coach Enrico Maaßen, who was also under discussion, is said to be unavailable following his departure from FC Augsburg. Another candidate for the vacant position is said to be Michael Wimmer, who is under contract with Austria Vienna. According to information from "Kicker", FCK is said to have already held talks with him.
Klose coached Austrian first division club SCR Altach until March of this year. Since then, the 2014 world champion has been without a club; the ex-goal scorer also works as a Champions League pundit for Prime Video. Klose once made his Bundesliga debut for FCK before moving to Werder Bremen in 2004.
Schuster was appointed as the successor to Marco Antwerpen at the end of the 2021/22 third division season - just before the ultimately successful promotion relegation against Dynamo Dresden. Last season, he led FCK to ninth place as a promoted team. In the current season, Kaiserslautern currently occupy eleventh place with 18 points.
Miroslav Klose, the former world champion and ex-player of 1. FC Kaiserslautern, could potentially return to the club as a coach, given his name being mentioned as a candidate for the vacant position following Dirk Schuster's departure. Additionally, Klose's past coaching experience includes managing Bundesliga 2 side SCR Altach.
