3rd league - According to "Bild": 1860 Munich gets new sports director

TSV 1860 Munich has allegedly found its new head of sport. According to information from the newspaper "Bild", Christian Werner (42), most recently a scout at SV Waldhof Mannheim, is to become sporting director at the third-division soccer club. He is expected to sign a contract until the summer of 2025. Since the departure of Günther Gorenzel in the summer, the "Lions" have been looking for a new sporting director.

Managing director Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer, who will have to leave at the end of the season according to the e.V. representatives around president Robert Reisinger, had already proposed Werner for the position several times. However, the former sports director of Austria Lustenau was rejected each time by the club in the ongoing dispute with the investors.

There is "still no approval" from 1860 co-shareholder Hasan Ismaik, wrote the newspaper "Bild". But even without this, Werner could take office by means of the 50+1 rule. This rule prevents takeovers by investors in German professional soccer and secures the influence of registered clubs.
