- Accidents involving 25 vehicles on A4 - two seriously injured
On the A4 Dresden-Erfurt near Chemnitz, there were nine consecutive accidents involving around 25 vehicles - likely due to a brief storm. So far, five injuries have been reported, including two severe, as stated by the police. Some were transported to hospitals by rescue helicopters.
The accidents occurred in the afternoon near the Berbersdorf exit, all heading towards Chemnitz. There was reportedly a brief storm in the area at the time of the accidents, according to police. There was also an accident in the direction of Dresden at the same time, with no reported injuries.
The highway is fully closed in the direction of Chemnitz since around 3:00 PM. Rescue and cleanup operations are expected to continue into the evening. Currently, traffic is being diverted at the Nossen interchange towards A14.
The unexpected series of accidents near Chemnitz led to traffic being diverted due to the highway closure. Despite the numerous vehicles involved, fortunately, no additional injuries were reported from the accident in the direction of Dresden.
