Emergencies - Accident with coach on A24: closure partially lifted
The Autobahn 24 towards Hamburg is partially drivable again in the direction of Hamburg after the bus accident with 16 lightly injured people. "We now only have a closure of one lane, the left overtaking lane is free," said a police spokesperson on Friday morning. Six of the 16 lightly injured were taken to the hospital for further treatment. Two replacement buses brought the remaining passengers to a garage.
The bus from Polish Danzig had nearly 60 men, women and children on board, according to the police, on its way to Hamburg. The vehicle came off the road, according to initial findings, in the vicinity of the town of Blievenstorf in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, to the left of the highway. "Probably due to inattention," said the police spokesperson. The touring coach is said to have collided with the median guardrail and a traffic sign. All the windows on the left side of the bus were damaged by the impact.
