Börde district - Accident on the A2: Two seriously injured and 500,000 euros in damage
Two people have been seriously injured in an accident involving several vehicles on the A2 in the Börde district. Around 500,000 euros in material damage was also caused, according to police reports on Wednesday evening. According to initial findings, a truck driver and a van driver overlooked the end of a traffic jam in front of a roadworks site for unknown reasons. As a result, the two vehicles collided with a stopped truck near the village of Eichenbarleben.
The 41-year-old driver of the car transporter was trapped in his vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department. A rescue helicopter took him to hospital. Another person involved in the accident was also seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The car transporter and a truck were severely damaged in the collision and had to be towed away. As part of the rescue and recovery work, the A2 in the direction of Hanover was fully closed for 5 hours from the Irxleben junction.

The accident occurred in the bustling traffic on the A2, a major highway, in the Saxony-Anhalt region, specifically in the Börde district. Despite the active presence of the police, who are investigating the causes, the exact reasons leading to the collision between several vehicles remain unclear. Due to the severe damage sustained by two vehicles, including a car transporter and a truck, the recovery process required the temporary closure of the A2 for approximately 5 hours.
