The desire to take a forbidden driver's break on the hard shoulder of the A65 highway near Kandel in the southern Palatinate has led to an accident involving three articulated trucks. The A65 had to be temporarily closed in the direction of Landau on Thursday evening, as the police reported on Friday morning. All three trucks had been driving behind each other in the dark. When the first driver suddenly braked to stop on the hard shoulder, the second was still able to swerve out of the way. However, the third lorry hit the second lorry due to insufficient safety distance, according to reports. Property damage of around 30,000 euros was caused. There were no injuries. The police launched an investigation into the person who caused the accident and the driver of the third truck.
