Accident at level crossing - van driver injured
A van driver has been injured in an accident with a regional train in the district of Rottal-Inn. The 29-year-old had overlooked the train at a level crossing without a barrier system on Wednesday evening, according to the police. The train driver and around a dozen passengers were uninjured. The railroad line near Unterdietfurt reportedly had to be closed for around three and a half hours.
The incident occurred at a railroad crossing in Lower Bavaria, similar to the one where a previous traffic accident took place. Proper warning signs and barrier systems could potentially prevent such accidents from recurring in high-traffic areas.
