- About a meter long snakes found in Saalfeld

In the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, several snakes approximately one meter long have been found. As the police reported, the animals are corn snakes that were likely released.

On Sunday morning, a witness reported finding a red snake in Saalfeld. Officers from the inspection service searched the described area and found a total of five corn snakes during the morning. According to the police, the snakes were orange-brown in color and 80 to 100 centimeters long.

The snakes are non-venomous and not native, it was reported. The animals were taken into custody. Additionally, a report was filed for violating the animal protection act.

The witness who spotted the red snake contacted the police. Upon investigation, the police confirmed that the snakes found were being kept illegally, in violation of the animal protection act.
