The fire on the A38 highway near the state border of Lower Saxony and Thuringia, caused by a truck accident, has been extinguished. The road from Halle to Göttingen is now clear, but in the opposite direction, it remains closed between the Friedland (Lower Saxony) and Arenshausen (Thuringia) exits until Thursday, the police announced early Wednesday. The roadway is severely damaged by the fire.

According to current police findings, a truck rear-ended a traffic jam, causing three other trucks to collide. Initially, the police reported two involved trucks, but it was later determined that there were four in total. The truck that caused the collision and the one it hit caught fire, according to reports. No one was seriously injured.

The fire on the A38 highway led to several accidents, contributing to the extensive damage. Following the initial truck accident, three more collisions occurred due to the subsequent traffic disruption.
