Winter weather - A38 closed a little longer: Delay in renovation
Highway 38 will remain closed in Friedland for longer than planned. The highway company announced on Thursday that traffic in a westerly direction between the Friedland junction and the Drammetal junction will not be able to flow again until December 12 instead of December 6. This is due to delays in the renovation work.
Frost and snow as well as the need for more repair work than expected have thwarted the schedule. In addition to the road surface, the base layer also had to be renewed in some cases. In addition, certain materials could only be installed at temperatures above zero degrees. The signposted detour U58 via federal roads 80 and 27 remains in place.

The delayed refurbishment of Highway 38 has caused a significant inconvenience, as commuters now have to endure the closure until December 12. This delay in construction could lead to increased traffic congestion in the peaceful town of Friedland, Lower Saxony. A connection point on U58 via federal roads 80 and 27 has been established as a detour for affected motorists.
Additionally, the ongoing refurbishment work in the region could provide an economic boost to Lower Saxony's construction industry, with various businesses benefitting from the increased demand for materials and labor required for such projects.
Unfortunately, the peaceful landscape of Lower Saxony may need to undergo temporary changes due to construction as the highway company works diligently to complete the refurbishment of Highway 38.
