Traffic - A23 between Pinneberg and Hamburg back to four lanes
The renovation of the A23(Hamburg-Heide) between Pinneberg and Hamburg has been completed a little earlier than planned. The highway between Pinneberg-Süd and the Hamburg-Nordwest interchange is once again open to two lanes in both directions, announced Autobahn GmbH Nord on Friday. The carriageway in the direction of Hamburg had been renewed since March.
The important commuter route was given a new surface of whisper asphalt as well as new safety equipment and markings. The entire drainage system also had to be rebuilt, as the water does not simply run off on the noise-reducing open-pored asphalt, but seeps away through the open pores in the surface course.
Construction work at the Hamburg-Eidelstedt junction is to follow next year. Maintenance measures are also planned between Tornesch and Pinneberg-Mitte. The highway is used by around 90,000 vehicles every day. According to the information provided, around 5000 local residents will benefit from the noise reduction.

The renovation of the A23, specifically in the section between Pinneberg and Hamburg, was undertaken by the autobahn gmbh of the federal government. This section of the autobahn is located in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Despite construction work continuing on other parts of the A23, such as the Hamburg-Eidelstedt junction next year, the recent project has significantly reduced traffic noise in Pinneberg-Mitte, benefiting approximately 5000 local residents.
