Traffic - A20 near Lübeck reopened after truck accident

Around 18 hours after the accident involving an articulated truck on the A20 highway in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, the closure of the highway between Lübeck-Genin and Groß Sarau was lifted on Tuesday. Prior to this, the soil contaminated by the diesel fuel spill had been excavated and the roadway cleaned, the police announced on Tuesday. During the night, the articulated lorry, which had ended up on the hard shoulder in an accident, had already been recovered by a crane. The 37-year-old truck driver was reportedly uninjured in the accident.

The fully loaded articulated truck had left the roadway on Monday evening for an as yet unexplained reason and ended up on the hard shoulder. Due to the softened verge, the articulated truck initially threatened to tip over, the police said. The highway had to be fully closed in the direction of Rostock for the recovery and cleaning work.
