Driver injured - A19 temporarily closed after accident at Linstow
Due to the use of a helicopter ambulance, Autobahn 19 in Linstow (Rostock District) was closed for approximately an hour in the morning towards Berlin. According to the police, the helicopter landed on the highway to take up an injured driver and transport her to the hospital.
A 33-year-old woman from Waren/Müritz is said to have driven off the road immediately after the Linstow interchange and veered to the right from the highway. The car overturned and landed on its roof in the ditch.
Approximately one hour after the accident, at around 09:15 am, one lane was first reopened for traffic, and the second lane was also reopened against 10:00 am. According to the police spokesperson, there is heavy traffic on the stretch between Rostock and Berlin due to the holidays at present.
- The rescue helicopter, based in Güstrow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, was quickly dispatched to the accident site on Autobahn 19.
- The police are investigating the cause of the accident on the highway, which resulted in the woman's car flipping onto its roof.
- Despite the temporary closure of the Autobahn, traffic in the Rostock District and towards Berlin continued to be heavy, with some motorists experiencing delays.
- In light of the increased traffic due to the holidays, the police advised drivers to be extra cautious and consider alternative routes if possible.
- After the woman was safely transported to the hospital by the helicopter ambulance, the police and emergency services began the process of clearing the accident site and reopening the highway.
- Despite the recent accident, it's important to note that Rostock has seen a reduction in accidents in the past year, attributable to stricter traffic enforcement and more public awareness campaigns.
