- A warehouse with 60 cars burned down in a lightning strike?

During a severe thunderstorm, a warehouse in Untermerzbach, a town in the Hassberge district of Lower Franconia, caught fire, engulfing approximately 60 to 70 vehicles. Initial estimates from firefighters suggest that a lightning strike was likely the cause of the blaze. The owner expressed a similar opinion, as reported by a dpa journalist on the scene. The plume of smoke was visible for many kilometers.

The owner of the warehouse estimated the damage to be around five million euros, according to a police spokesperson. The approximately 2,000 square meter warehouse was completely destroyed. Firefighters continued to be on the scene even in the evening. "The firefighters will likely be busy until the early morning hours," the police spokesperson said.

The warehouse that caught fire was located in Germany, specifically in Untermerzbach. The incident occurred in the Hassberge district of Lower Franconia.
