The fire department managed to put out the flames, but the truck and the pavilion were completely destroyed. No one was injured during the incident, and the party office remained undamaged. The police are currently investigating the case for arson. They are also cooperating with the State Protection Service to determine if the act was politically motivated.
According to Ronald Gläser, the parliamentary business manager of the AfD faction in the Berlin House of Representatives, who has his constituency office at that location, the truck burned down around 3:00 a.m. The vehicle was used for their campaign and was parked in front of their office.
Since a fire station is close to the office, the firefighters were able to respond quickly and extinguish the fire within a few minutes. However, the vehicle was completely charred. Gläser stated that campaign materials, including posters for the European election, were inside the vehicle.
