On the Baltic Sea island of Rügen, a vacationer from Saxony was struck by a tractor and died. The 74-year-old woman was standing with her bicycle at the edge of the road in Neu Mukran when the tractor with a trailer carrying hay bales passed by, police said. It's unclear why the woman ended up under the right rear wheel of the trailer. She died at the scene.
The 27-year-old tractor driver was uninjured. He was cared for by psychological emergency services after the accident. No abnormalities were found in him, it was reported. The police have commissioned an expert to investigate the cause of the accident.
