Along the A7 near Hamburg-Othmarschen, the Autobahn GmbH is fixing a problem on the primary roadway from Friday morning 7:00 am. The major road towards Hannover will be narrowed to two lanes until Saturday morning 9:00 am, as reported by an Autobahn company representative. A brief distance before the Othmarschen exit, before the Elbtunnel, the cover of a cable trench broke open. Heavy vehicles on the road are thought to be the cause of this. The repair can't be pushed back because on Sunday, the EM game Poland-Netherlands is planned at Volksparkstadion, with a projected attendance of 49,000 football fans.

The problem showed up on Wednesday. Currently, a specialized company is scheduled to determine the scope of the damage. Concrete remedies are also required, the spokesperson elaborated. The substance must dry and solidify for several hours. On Thursday afternoon, traffic became clogged over approximately ten kilometers. The Autobahn GmbH Nord's notice indicated an increase in travel time by 45 minutes.

Despite the ongoing repairs near the Othmarschen exit, drivers should still anticipate heavy traffic due to the Elbe tunnel and the upcoming football game in Hanover. The broken cable trench cover and the reduction of lanes on the A7 are likely to cause delays, especially for larger vehicles. The Autobahn GmbH recommends considering alternative routes or leaving earlier to avoid potential congestion at the Elbe tunnel.
