A regional train collided with a concrete slab at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. The incident occurred near Celle in the early hours of Thursday, as reported by the Federal Police. No injuries were reported.

The train, operated by Metronom, was traveling on the railway line from Hannover to Uelzen when it hit the obstacle on the track. The train's driver immediately applied the emergency brake, which was carrying around 100 passengers. Due to the damage, the train was taken out of service at Uelzen station for repairs. The Federal Police launched an investigation into the suspected dangerous interference with rail traffic. 21 trains were delayed as a result.

The Federal Police warned against entering the tracks or leaving objects on them, as this could injure both perpetrators and passengers. "In the worst-case scenario, a train could even derail," it was stated.

The incident at Celle could potentially be classified as an instance of suspected dangerous interference with rail traffic, leading to a serious crime against infrastructure. The investigation by the Federal Police aims to identify and prosecute any individuals responsible for this potential crime.
