On the way to Zurich - A train carrying 300 passengers hit by a tree

An Eurocity train bound for Zurich with around 300 passengers was struck by a tree in southern Baden-Württemberg. There were no injuries in the accident near Aichstetten (district of Ravensburg), a police spokesman said. The tree had initially become entangled with the train around midday, according to initial findings.

The fire department freed the SBB's ECE 194, allowing it to resume its journey after about an hour, a railway spokeswoman said. The extent of the material damage was initially unknown.

Buses were initially ordered to pick up the passengers from the train, which was traveling from Munich to Zurich. However, this was no longer necessary. Initially, the "Schwäbische Zeitung" reported online that the incident occurred during a thunderstorm.

Despite the initial report of the accident happening during a thunderstorm, further investigation revealed it was not the cause. The train that was involved in the incident was originally bound for Zurich from Munich, passing through the scenic region of Bavaria before encountering the tree in southern Baden-Württemberg.
