Nourishment - A third of sales in NRW come from fruit and vegetable products.
Around a third of Germany's revenue from fruit and veggie products comes from North Rhine-Westphalia businesses. These businesses made products worth 3.1 billion euros in 2023, as per IT.NRW, the regional stats office. This is a 12% increase compared to 2022. Half of the revenue was generated in the Regierungsbezirk Köln region. The product category includes processed fruits, veggies, fruit juices, and potato goods. There are 67 companies in North Rhine-Westphalia working on these products.
In 2022, corresponding products were worth 9.5 billion euros in Germany, a 8% increase from the previous year. This information was shared on "Eat Your Vegetables Day" on June 17, which happened to be a Friday. It involved companies with at least 20 employees.
