- A tempest besieges Lower Saxony, resulting in several casualties.

A severe storm hacked through northwestern Lower Saxony, triggering 54 emergency police responses on a Saturday night. Within a short span, the police department in Osnabrück reported that their East Frisia counterparts addressed 83 cases related to the storm by Sunday morning. Emden was left out of this tally.

The wind rampaged through southern territories, too. At Cloppenburg, a 28-year-old skydiver from Westerstede suffered injuries upon landing, getting caught in a sudden gust around 8:00 PM and crashing onto her back. An ambulance whisked her off to the hospital.

By 11:00 PM, the fire department had saved 14 individuals from the Steinhuder Meer's rip-tide. The nocturnal driving restriction was lifted due to the "Steinhuder Meer in Flames" event, as several boats were capsized with wind speeds reaching approximately 64 knots. Stand-up paddle boarders were also rescued from the lake. "It could have been much worse," a fire department spokesperson commented to dpa. A few chilled survivors were treated, but no hospital admissions were necessary. The chaotic conditions necessitated additional firefighters, totaling 200 rescuers at the scene of Lower Saxony's largest inland body of water.

At East Frisia's Leer-Papenburg airport, a gust hoisted an ultralight aircraft into the air briefly before it crashed onto its roof adjacent to the runway. The fire department swaddled the plane with foam to prevent any potential post-crash fires due to leakage.

The gable wall of a barn in Aurich-Middels collapsed on a farm due to the storm, but the Technical Relief Agency (THW) fortified the site, ensuring the safety of the farm residents, as confirmed by the fire department.

On Langeoog Island, a person sustained minor injuries following a flying shard of glass tabletop. Emden witnessed multiple vehicle collisions caused by a crashing tree, with initial damage assessments pending.

The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts isolated thunderstorms with gusts reaching up to 64 knots close to the North Sea on Monday.

Firefighting efforts were needed to put out small flames caused by the crashing ultralight aircraft at East Frisia's Leer-Papenburg airport. During the storm, several fire departments across Lower Saxony were kept busy, engaging in firefighting operations.
