As per NGG's reports, workers in the eastern German dairy sector are set to receive a 9.7% wage hike in total. Furthermore, the union and the Dairy Industry Association have agreed on a one-time payment of 1,100 euros, which will be disbursed.

Starting September, all employees will pocket 500 euros net, followed by an additional 600 euros net in October. Trainees will receive half of this amount. From November 1, 2024, salaries and training allowances will go up by 5%, with another 3.2% increase coming into effect on September 1, 2025.

With around 8,000 individuals employed in the eastern German dairy sector, the employer's contribution to pension schemes will also surge by 100 euros. The agreement spans a period of 24 months, as stated by NGG. This agreement was described as "respectable" by NGG.

According to NGG, roughly 43,000 people are employed in the German dairy sector, with approximately 8,000 in the east. The collective agreement for the dairy industry in the east encompasses eleven dairies and cheese factories, employing around 2,400 workers. Six of these facilities are situated in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, four in Saxony-Anhalt, and one in Thuringia. A significant number of other companies adopt this same agreement.

The wage hike and additional payment in the dairy industry will benefit over 8,000 workers in eastern Germany. This positive development in the dairy industry is expected to increase the employers' pension scheme contributions by 100 euros per employee.
