A resident of Lower Saxony receives an eight-year incarceration sentence for attempting to commit homicide in Berlin.

Based on the accusations, a man from Sehnde, a town in Lower Saxony, supposedly stabbed a stranger in Friedrichshain towards the end of February. He allegedly assaulted the victim from behind with a knife, inflicting a neck wound and causing severe head injuries. The victim was in critical condition and required immediate surgery to survive.

The 25-year-old reportedly sought to understand his inclination towards this kind of act and aimed to set an example, as per the prosecution's claims. Two days prior, he had threatened his ex-partner during a car ride, threatening to either kill her 16-year-old sister or a random person, ostensibly to coerce her into admitting infidelity.

Following the incident in Friedrichshain, the 25-year-old uploaded a confession video on Instagram. Afterward, he reportedly took a woman hostage at the town hall in Sehnde, using a knife to garner attention for the video. Luckily, the police managed to diffuse the situation without any injuries. The 25-year-old was subsequently apprehended.

The court spokeswoman suspected that the defendant's mental state had been impaired due to excessive cannabis and cocaine consumption, potentially diminishing his criminal responsibility. Consequently, the court ordered the 23-year-old victim from Berlin to receive €15,000 in compensation.

The 25-year-old's case was heard before the Court of Justice due to his criminal actions. Despite his claims of attempting to understand his actions and setting an example, the court found him guilty of the assault.
