Early this morning, a track maintenance machine in Oberhaching (Munich district) caught fire. Initial findings suggest arson, according to a spokesperson who also mentioned that evidence of ignition was found at the scene. The damage is estimated to be in the six-figure range.

The fire department extinguished several fires on the approximately 200-meter-long machine. The cleaning train had only been parked on the track shortly before, the spokesperson said. The special train is supposed to clean the stones in the track bed. The police have launched an investigation and are looking for witnesses.

The fire department's arrival was facilitated by the nearby fire station. Subsequent investigations by the police may involve interviewing potential suspects.
