Road congestion [ Car movement issues [ Vehicle journey delays [ - A portion of the A7 bridge is destroyed by an explosion, resulting in a temporary closure.
On Thursday, a section of the A7 motorway in Schweinfurt's Lower Franconian district needed to be torn down, causing a closure that lasted around an hour and a half. Though tedious for passengers, the process went smoothly, as confirmed by the regional Autobahn GmbH manager. The highway was shut down in both directions between 8:30 and 10:00, spanning the stretch between Schweinfurt/Werneck and Gramschatzer Wald.
The planned explosion at Talbridge Stettbach was successful in breaking up the roadway for its Fulda-bound lanes' renovation. A 300-meter radius was safeguarded around the site.
The 240-meter-long, 1966 bridge is scheduled to undergo renovation until the summer of 2025. The first phase of work began in autumn 2021, tackling the Würzburg-bound lanes, and is now transitioning to the Fulda-bound ones. The total construction cost stands at 27 million euros.
