Timmendorfer Beach - A pontoon that has been damaged will be salvaged on Saturday.
On Saturday, we'll start rescuing the capsized work platform in Timmendorfer Strand. The mission begins at 6 am, as told by the leader of the tourism department, Gesine Muus, on Friday. According to a representative from the municipality, the skilled crane boat "Enak" will retrieve the 190-tonne barge. If things run smoothly, the operation will be done in a day, Muus predicted.
This mishap occurred on May 21 when the work platform broke free from its anchors due to wild winds. It then clashed with the under-construction seawall and became lodged there. Unfortunately, multiple rescue efforts were unsuccessful due to poor weather.
The anticipated premiere of the new seawall on September 20 isn't set to be delayed because of this incident. At 400 meters long, it'll gently follow the Baltic Sea's curve and cost approximately 11.8 million euros.

After the damage to the work platform on Timmendorfer Strand, numerous emergency responses were initiated but failed due to adverse weather conditions in Schleswig-Holstein. Despite the setbacks, tourists are still expected to flock to the area, as the newly constructed seawall, due to open on September 20, will not face delays. Local authorities, including the municipality, are collaborating to salvage the stranded work platform, with the assistance of the skilled crane boat "Enak." As the operation commences on Saturday at 6 am, all municipalities along the coast are urged to be prepared for any potential impacts on tourism.
