Cases of Urgent Situations - A nine-year-old child from Döbeln has sadly passed away after going missing.
Valeriia, a missing nine-year-old girl from Döbeln, Saxony, has sadly passed away. The police confirmed this unfortunate news on Wednesday. Police President Carsten Kaempf expressed the intense focus on identifying the perpetrator(s), saying "The loss of a child tears your heart apart." While searching for the girl on Tuesday, a body was discovered, believed to be Valeriia. She was found in a wooded area near Döbeln.
Over 400 officers from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt dedicated their efforts on Tuesday to find Valeriia. The girl was last seen on June 3rd, on her way to school. However, she never showed up for class.
Police previously utilized multiple strategies to find Valeriia, such as searching the Mulde River, questioning locals, employing special dogs, helicopters, and divers. The citizens of Döbeln, a city of around 24,000 inhabitants, were also asked to be vigilant and keep an eye out for her in their personal spaces like gardens, cellars, garages, and sheds. Additionally, private search teams formed within the community to aid the investigation.
Valeriia had been living with her mother in Germany since 2022, while her father remains in Ukraine. Police have been exploring every possible angle in the investigation, even staying in contact with the father.
