Creatures - A new cat quarantine facility has been established at the animal shelter in Berlin.
"Approximately 1500 felines make their way to the shelter on a yearly basis through different means," the establishment shared. Once there, these pets are put into quarantine, where their health is assessed. If they're hale and hearty, they can be placed in the care centers of the shelter or with foster families after castration. "Alas, numerous cats arrive with infectious ailments or their medical standing needs further confirmation. In such cases, isolation is a must."
The odds of catching an ailment are quite high for shelter occupants. So far, makeshift containers have been utilized for quarantine.
The construction of the new facility runs up to around four million euros, as per the sanctuary. The majority of the funds came from donations, with a tiny fraction provided by the Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Protection.
