A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Bremen for killing his sister out of rage over her lifestyle.
The court, in the words of the presenter, deemed the motives behind the murder to be of a lower nature. The presiding judge, therefore, made the statement that the defendant's actions constituted "femicide," a type of murder, in more than one instance while justifying the sentence.
The incident took place within the victim's Bremen apartment during the previous December. As per the indictment, the 24-year-old suspect perpetrated this act because his sister's life didn't align with his "cultural image." In his own mind, he was attempting to "restore his honor." With a kitchen knife, he inflicted multiple stab wounds on her.
The case was heavily influenced by letters discovered in the suspect's residence after the crime. During the trial, these documents were read aloud, revealing the defendant's belief that his younger sister had been attempting to act promiscuously. He felt honored-bound to end her life as a result.
