A busted battery ignited a blaze in Bruchköbel (Main-Kinzig district). Luckily, the house's occupants managed to get out safe, as stated by law enforcement. The fire department put out the flames. According to authorities, a major factor was the basement's functioning smoke detector, which alerted a resident to the smoke. It appears the battery from a cordless drill was to blame, having gotten short-circuited. Following the incident, the residents were permitted to go back home. The police roughly assess the cost of damage to be around 1,000 euros.
