- A Land Vehicle has been involved in approximately 2,000 legal disputes in court.
It's seen that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is currently tackling 1,976 legal matters. This is a slight increase compared to the end of 2023, when the state was handling 1,827 cases, and a slight decrease from the end of 2021, with 2,049 cases under consideration. This data is derived from the state government's response to a query posed by the FDP faction leader in the Schwerin state parliament, René Domke.
Mostly, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern finds itself as the accused party. In every case, an attempt is made to explore the possibility of settling out of court to minimize potential legal expenses. These expenses are proportional to the dispute's worth. In 2022, there were nine disputes worth more than 100,000 euros, compared to 14 cases in 2021 and 23 cases in 2020.
Typically, the loser of a case is responsible for the legal expenses. Regrettably, the state government did not share details on the financial impact in previous years. They mentioned that calculating this would be too laborious.
The state government's response to the query was initiated by René Domke, a faction leader from the FDP in the Schwerin state parliament. The government's handling of legal matters is a responsibility primarily undertaken by the state itself, as a representative of the people and governed by the principles of the larger, national Government.
