A former Bundeswehr officer receives three and a half years in prison for spying on behalf of Russia.
The ex-captain allegedly shared pertinent documents with the Russian Consulate in Bonn and the Russian Embassy in Berlin since May 2023, showing a willingness to collaborate. This 54-year-old had gathered the information while working in the Procurement Office of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz.
During the trial, the offender seemed cooperative. The ruling matched the prosecutor's request from the Federal Prosecutor's Office, which was handling the case. Defense lawyers asked for a decision using the judge's discretion.
