While overtaking on road 372 in Rottenburg, a tragic accident occurred leaving a 50-year-old woman dead and a 57-year-old man seriously injured. The incident, taking place on a Monday, involved two drivers attempting to overtake simultaneously. The younger one, inexperienced in such maneuvers, failed to notice the older driver was already in the act, resulting in a close call.
The 57-year-old driver, attempting to avoid a collision, lost control of his vehicle. This caused him to veer off the road and collide with a tree. The driver of the Audi was stuck inside the wrecked car, necessitating the use of heavy machinery by fire department personnel to free him. His 50-year-old female passenger, however, was rescued by onlookers. Unfortunately, she suffered severe injuries from the collision and passed away at the scene. A 47-year-old cyclist who was struck by flying debris sustained only minor injuries.
Authorities estimate the overall damage to be around €35,000.
