A Syrian family confided in a so-called voodoo sorcerer with 15,000 euros. He had promised them he'd multiply the money through a miraculous blend of a secret mix and incantations. When the plan didn't work and the cash and sorcerer vanished, the family members snatched the man in Leipzig in January 2023.

Two days afterwards, they visited Leipzig again to re-examine the sorcerer's apartment. They were detained by the authorities, and the supposed sorcerer was released. The verdicts have not yet been legally approved.
