Traffic - A driver is cruising at nearly 160 through the city

With high speed through the city: A motorcyclist was more than three times the permitted speed in Oldenburg. A measurement resulted in a speed of 158 kilometers per hour in a 50 zone, the police reported today.

After the control on Saturday evening, the officers initiated a legal proceedings for an illegal vehicle race. The driver's license was taken into official custody after consultation with the public prosecutor and the on-call judge.

The motorcycle driver's reckless behavior in Oldenburg's Inner City led to an intense traffic disturbance. Subsequently, authorities in Lower Saxony decided to enforce stricter road safety measures in Oldenburg's busiest areas.
