Rhineland-Palatinate initiates a digital education crusade in the state's nursing colleges. The aim is to integrate digital learning and teaching so thoroughly in nursing education that using digital tools for future nursing practitioners will become second nature, clarified Social Minister Alexander Schweitzer in Mainz on Tuesday. This applies to both training and nursing practice later on.

Schweitzer pointed to the outcomes of the state study "digi2care" from 2023. Along with bettering the digital resources at healthcare institutions in Rhineland-Palatinate, the study primarily emphasized the need to enhance the digital competence of educators and students. The study was presented in the spring and forms the foundation for the initiative.

Concretely, by the end of 2026, approximately 500 instructors, college principals, and curriculum coordinators in the nursing schools are anticipated to be educated in digital technologies and techniques. The training will involve regional presence occasions and elective modules, which will be bolstered by video conferences and mentors, announced the Social-, Labour-, and Digitalization Minister.
