Cars moving through roadways - A different strike occurs in the private bus sector.
This morning, a fresh strike from bus drivers working in Rhineland-Palatinate's private sector kicked off. It primarily affects the northern region, and the main companies affected are DB Regio Mitte, Koblenz Transport Companies, and Zickenheiner, a bus provider based in Koblenz. A Verdi union spokesperson shared this information.
If the situation worsens through the day, there might be more work interruptions. This strike is scheduled to last all the way to Monday night. After that, they'll assess its next steps.
The strained relationship between Verdi and the Transport Industry Employers' Association Rhineland-Palatinate has been ongoing for many months. With the negotiations reaching a dead end once more, Verdi had warned they would start striking, both at pre-planned and unannounced times, even in bus services that were ongoing.
