A climber, a 23-year-old lady, plummeted roughly 70 meters into the abyss while traversing a via ferrata close to Neuschwanstein Castle. This unfortunate incident occurred during her team's ascent on the mountain situated in Schwangau. Upon falling, she was promptly airlifted by a helicopter to a medical facility with critical injuries. Regrettably, she didn't survive past a week, as confirmed by the local authorities.

The mountain guards at Schwangau were alerted about the climber's fall near Neuschwanstein Castle. In an effort to prevent similar accidents, the mountain guards proposed additional safety measures for via ferrata routes in the area.
