- A changeable summer brings heat and storms to Hesse
In Hessen, the rather fickle and changeable summer is underway. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an extreme heat warning for Tuesday, with high temperatures reaching up to 36°C. It is advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
The air is muggy, and at least in the morning, it's clear. However, this changes throughout the day: thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and gusts of wind will displace the sunny weather. At least it cools down a bit at night. With low temperatures of 22 to 17°C, there may be strong thunderstorms and showers in some areas.
On Wednesday, temperatures rise again. Although the high temperatures of 28 to 32°C do not quite reach the peak values of the previous day, it will still be summery hot. According to the DWD, the muggy weather will bring more severe weather in the form of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail. In some regions, gusts of wind could also occur.
After another very rainy night, during which temperatures drop again, meteorologists expect similar values on Thursday. Rainfall will decrease, with only a few showers moving east. Towards the end of the week, sunny and pleasant weather returns.
Despite the temperature drop at night, severe weather continues to be a concern, as indicated by the DWD's warning of more thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail on Wednesday. The muggy weather is expected to persist, potentially leading to gusts of wind in some regions.
On Thursday, the DWD forecasts similar weather conditions, with rain decreasing slightly but still expecting a few showers and the possibility of further severe weather.
