In Kiel, a blaze that erupted on a balcony in a residence led to the hospitalization of three individuals. There is an ongoing investigation into the possible presence of carbon monoxide poisoning, said the fire department. Early Monday nighttime, the inferno occurred on the first level of a multi-resident residing in Kiel-Suedfriedhof. Due to some people already putting out the blaze from the balcony, it did not escalate further. The occupants of the dwelling were able to escape safely, prior to the arrival of the emergency responders. The fire department is said to have retrieved two guinea pigs and a canine from the apartments. The animals were in fine health. The fire was subdued promptly, it was reported.
