The World - A blaze at a retirement home has claimed the lives of two people and resulted in serious injuries to another.

In a blaze at a senior living facility in the Lower Saxony region of Verden, two residents lost their lives. A third resident was severely injured, according to statements made by firefighters on Thursday morning. The conflagration started in an undetermined joint of the elderly home in Oyten during the night. Authorities evacuated 62 seniors and residents from the smoky building, a fire department spokesperson reported. Over 100 firefighters managed to put out the flames. A rescue helicopter was also deployed.
