Firefighting operation - A barn fire close to Demmin also impacts a residential building.
A barn fire in Meyenkrebs near Demmin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte) escalated to a nearby residence house overnight before Saturday. Police in Neubrandenburg revealed in the morning that the residents managed to escape the structure unscathed. About 45 firefighters from Demmin, Utzedel, Loitz, and Düvier collaborated in putting out the flames, but couldn't save the barn from total destruction.
The residence house suffered substantial damage from the fire and is now unlivable. The estimated property damage stands at around 100,000 euros. The fire and the firefighting operations led to the closure of the adjacent federal highway B194 for about five hours until morning. The criminal police are now probing the cause of the fire.
