A 36-year-old person admitted to a psychiatric institution in Dortmund after killing their mother
The incident, according to the indictment, occurred in a flat in Dortmund in December 2023. There, the man allegedly stabbed the woman 32 times. She fled from the flat into the hallway, but the 36-year-old followed her. There, he brought her to the ground and eventually overpowered her. Only through the intervention of a witness did the man allegedly let go of his mother.
The Mother died on the way to the hospital due to her injuries. The 36-year-old is said to suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and therefore unable to recognize the injustice of his actions.
A hearing in a Custodial Psychiatric Treatment Proceedings was held against the man. In contrast to a regular criminal trial, in such proceedings it is examined whether a supposedly unsound-of-mind offender should be committed to a Psychiatric Hospital.
The hearing took place in the District Court of Dortmund for the Custodial Psychiatric Treatment Proceedings against the 36-year-old. Ms. Judge President presided over the case involving the man's alleged killing of his mother. Due to his diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, the court considered whether he was capable of recognizing the injustice of his actions in psychiatric terms.
