A 27-year-old smuggling offender in Cologne has been condemned to serve a four and a half-year imprisonment term.

As per the charges, a 27-year-old individual is accused of being included in a significant syndicate that facilitated the illegal transport of Syrians into Germany, charging a fee from Turkey, Lebanon, and various other nations in the Middle East. This suspect reportedly managed two foreign travel agencies, where flight reservations were made. These events are said to have happened throughout the period of January 2022 to October 2022.

Before their flights, fake documents were secured for the Syrians. These forged papers were subsequently discarded during the flights, enabling the Syrians to apply for asylum in Germany using their genuine Syrian passports.

One of the previous employees at the Cologne Immigration Office was also implicated in this network. She was previously given a prison sentence of four years and nine months. She is believed to have fabricated residence documents for monetary gain.

The 27-year-old individual's alleged activities spanned over a period of several years, with the crimes reportedly occurring between January 2022 and October 2022. After serving a four-year and nine-month prison sentence, the former Cologne Immigration Office employee continued to engage in fabricating residence documents for monetary gain, illustrating the lengthy nature of such harmful activities.
