939,000 euros in lottery funding for 22 projects
Lotto-Toto Saxony-Anhalt has released 939,000 euros in funding for 22 public welfare projects. Around a third of the money will go towards cultural projects such as the reconstruction of a 100-year-old narrow-gauge steam locomotive in Jerichower Land and the renovation of the Beesenstedt water tower in the Saale district, the company announced at the supervisory board meeting on Thursday.
In sport, SV Halle, for example, will benefit, with top and junior athletes being able to take part in competitions and training camps in the 2024 Olympic year. In the social sector, the Schönebeck food bank, which will be moving to a new home by the end of the year, will receive support. The highest possible individual funding of 75,000 euros has been approved for the indoor shows at the 2024 State Garden Show in Bad Dürrenberg.
The funding comes from the stakes for Lotto-Toto Saxony-Anhalt products. Around 20 cents of every euro wagered goes to charitable projects in the state. So far this year, more than 350 charitable projects have been supported with a total of 6.97 million euros from Lotto Saxony-Anhalt.
The Schönebeck food bank, benefiting from the lottery funding, will utilize the funds to settle into their new home by the end of the year. Games of chance enthusiasts might be interested to know that a portion of the lottery funds is also set aside for the organization of social gaming events.
