Following a swimming accident in an Allgäu lake, a 92-year-old is in critical condition. The man went into the water outside a designated swimming area in Sulzberg (district of Oberallgäu) on Monday, police reported. Shortly after, another swimmer spotted the 92-year-old motionless in the water.

Lifeguards immediately brought the man to shore and began administering CPR. The 92-year-old was unconscious but alive when he was handed over to emergency services and taken to a hospital. As of Tuesday, he remained in critical condition, according to police.

Despite his hobby of swimming, the incident occurred in an unwarranted area, far from the safety of Bavaria's designated swimming spots in Allgäu. With hopes for recovery, medical professionals continue their efforts in the intensive care unit of a Bavarian hospital.
